“I’m Seen and I’m Feeling Green.”

Our “Transform Your Voice” poetry workshop for students 10-to-13 recently ended with a slam under the direction of extraordinary Mighty volunteer Stephanie Cawley. Below, one of our favorites, written by MW’s Aliciah.

“What I Think About Being Small”
Don’t underestimate me because
I’m small.
Hear my voice, don’t you ignore.
A lot of people always seem like
I don’t exist.
I’m here people, don’t you see?
Open your eyes and see inside
of me.
What I am.
I’m a Pixie that needs Pixie
dust to fly. I’m not shy.
But people think just
because I’m small,
I can’t handle it all.
I’m a tinker, that’s what I do.
I make a lot of amazing things
in all the seasons to help.
I’m beginning to get seen.
Now people are noticing,
because of all the phenomenal
work I have done.
I did it. I won.
I’m seen and I’m feeling green.
