MW Teens Take DC
Meet Tiaira (on the right), a rising junior and one of 13 Philly teens heading to Washington, DC, with us on June 27 for a college tour and visit to the Smithsonian.
In addition to participating in our Teen Lounge, Tiaira has two ongoing one-on-one mentors at Mighty Writers (including Kate, on the left). Tiaira recently wrote:
“I think this is my year to shine. Now that I made honor roll, I feel like I am intelligent. Last year I was so close to giving up, but I didn’t. I told myself just because you don’t get it right the first time around doesn’t mean that you aren’t smart, it just means you need extra help. I’ve come a long way, I’m not the same person that I was before.”
