Your favorite book as a kid? When I was 3, my favorite book was “Goodnight Moon.” My parents told me I had it memorized and would often recite it, When I got older, I fell in love with Brian Jacques’ Redwall series and everything by Tamora Pierce.

Who influenced you to care about writing and how did they do it? I hated English class until 8th grade. I hated the formulaic way writing was taught in school; it wasn’t until my 8th grade English teacher allowed me to write about my own thoughts and feelings that I fell in love with writing.
What is your favorite thing to write now? Creative writing prompts. It’s hard to find time to write an epic now, but short stories, vignettes and drabbles are good ways to keep the creative juices flowing.
