The Mighty Way

“In terms of whose stories stay in my head, it’s my mother’s, my aunts’, my neighbors’, my teachers’.”
—Michelle Obama
At Mighty Writers, we’re all about telling a good story.
Fortunately, you can’t grow up in this city and not have more than a few good stories to tell.
All you have to do is listen to hear them.
Great Philadelphia stories are being told everywhere.
On our playgrounds. In our markets. At the bus stops… anywhere and everywhere people congregate.
Some of the stories are pretty tall tales. Others have the real ring of truth.
Every day we hear stories in our city that make us happy, stories that make us sad and stories that make us think.
Our Mighty Writers have stories, too. We hear them everyday. They’re fun to hear.
The only thing more fun than listening to a good story is knowing how to write or tell one.
Which is why we like storytelling at Mighty Writers.
Of course good storytelling requires structure, discipline and crafting: a strong beginning, middle and end—and knowing how to tightly stitch all three together.
At Mighty Writers we work through as many drafts as necessary until the story reads and sounds just right, until it becomes the kind of story that stays in your head, maybe forever.
It’s the Mighty way.
