Mighty Toddlers
For Philadelphia students ages 2 to 5
Saturday, 11:00am-12:00pm

This workshop will take place at 1025 S. 9th St.

Mighty Writers begin as Mighty Readers! Join us for a family-friendly, bilingual story time. Together with instructor Erlina Ortiz, you’ll read stories, sing songs and engage in educational play with your toddler. Instructor: Erlina Ortiz

Illustrated Migration Stories
For Philadelphia students ages 7 to 17
Saturday, 3:30-5:30pm
Feb. 25; Mar. 4, 11, 18, 25; Apr. 1 (six sessions)
This workshop will take place at 1025 S. 9th St.

With all the emotional news about immigration these days, you may be asking yourself: What can I do about it? Tell us your immigration story through a comic book! In this workshop, we’ll create comics that discuss immigration news and its impact on our communities. Instructor: Nora Litz with guest comic artists

Reading and Writing in Spanish
For Philadelphia students ages 8 to 10
Saturday, 1:00-2:00pm
Jan. 28 to Mar. 11 (7 sessions)
This workshop will take place at 1025 S. 9th St.

Can you speak in Spanish? How about read and write? In this workshop, students who speak Spanish in the home are invited to practice their reading and writing skills. Together we’ll practice Spanish spelling, grammar and speech, and finish out the workshop by writing a short story in Spanish. Instructor: Kelly Aponte

Sautéed Science

Cooking is chemistry! In this workshop, students will explore the science behind their favorite baked goods. Join us as we conduct scientific experiments with household ingredients, write recipes, and eat tasty treats. Instructor: Eli Straussman

Mighty Mujeres
For Philadelphia students ages 12 to 17
Thursdays, 6:30–7:30pm
Jan. 26–May 4th (15 sessions)
This workshop will take place at 1025 S. 9th St.

What do Frida Kahlo, Sonia Sotomayor and Celia Cruz all have in common? They’re all awesome Latina ladies of history! In this workshop, students will learn about a Latina lady a week to know more about the contributions of Latina women to history as well as be acquainted with new possible role models. Towards the end of the sessions, students will pick a favorite Latina lady of history and make a cool poster to showcase her biography and her accomplishments. Classes will not take place on March 9th or during the school’s Spring Break. Instructor: Andreina Lamas

We’ve gotten so many calls for tutoring that we’ve decided to answer your call! Sign up or drop-in from now until June, when Mighty Writers El Futuro opens their doors on Saturday afternoons for the “Mighty Writing Center.” Bring in an essay you are working on and we’ll help you perfect it. Just in need of general assistance with writing, come in and sit with a volunteer to discuss your journey. Whatever your writing needs are, be sure to bring them to us!!
